The idea for Cinema Romantics came up a few years ago in a Berlin bar. Zero Solaris and Graf Tati scribbled the names of their favorite actresses on beer – mats – film divas they would like to make songs about. Maybe this would have been forgotten by the next day, but the coasters reappeared and the two began songwriting. With the support of Kulturamt Köln a concert was held at Cologne’s legendary Filmclub 813, and a vinyl record was produced. Participants included drummer Anakin Sander (for the first concert), actress Miss Django (for concerts and album), and artist Cécile Dupaquier (for the album); both women provided spoken-word contributions regarding the film icons. Lucas Croon mixed the tracks and photographer Cristina Coral kindly provided a picture for the album cover.
